Japanese Tongue Twisters (早口言葉)

Here are some examples of so-called tongue twisters. The first list contains words or sentences I stumbled upon (or sometimes over) myself, and the second list is from a website I found somewhere and which I thought I would like to share with everyone else!

There are two chickens in the rear garden and two in the front garden.

鰐は庭には居ない。
Wani wa niwa niwa inai.
The crocodile is not in the garden.

貴社の記者が汽車で帰社した。
Kisha no kisha ga kisha de kisha shita.
Your company's reporter returned to the office by train.

隣の竹垣に竹立て掛けた。
Tonari no takegaki ni take tatekaketa.
I leaned the bamboo along my neighbor's bamboo fence.

母はハハハ母の母はハハハハと笑う。
Haha wa hahaha haha no haha wa hahahaha to warau.
My mothers laugh is 'haha' and my mothers mothers laugh is 'hahahaha.'

The kanji 子 can be read several different ways. Knowing that it's readings are ko, shi, and ne, read this:
子子の子子子子子子の子子子子
The answer is 'Neko no ko koneko, shishi no ko koshishi.
The child of a cat is a kitty; the child of a lion is a cub.
